YOUTH PREVENTION & RECOVERY CARE (YPARC)

We have been engaged by the Victorian Health Building Authority to design and deliver five new Youth Prevention and Recovery Care centres across the state of Victoria. YPARC centres will provide treatment, care and support to young people aged 16-25 who are experiencing mental health challenges and/or psychological distress. The investment will deliver five new 10-bed facilities – doubling current system capacity.

The new centres will be in: Ballarat, Geelong, Heidelberg, Shepparton and Traralgon

YOUTH PREVENTION & RECOVERY CARE (YPARC)

As part of the $141 million Youth Prevention and Recovery Care (YPARC) centre expansion and upgrade program, we are very pleased to share, that construction has started on the Traralgon, Heidelberg, Geelong and Shepparton YPARC centres.

YPARC centres provide around-the-clock care and support to young people aged between 16 and 25 experiencing mental health challenges and/or psychological distress. This includes mental health challenges such as depression and anxiety, which are the leading cause of disability in young people.

The new multi-million-dollar YPARC centres includes:

• 10 bedrooms complete with ensuite bathrooms

• a communal kitchen

• kitchen, dining and living areas

• breakout spaces

• outdoor garden areas

• a welcoming, safe and therapeutic environment that promotes rest and recovery.

The architectural design solutions are mindfully constructed as part of a considered co-design process. Clinicians, carers and young people with lived and living experience of mental health challenges shared their insights and experiences to help influence the design of each YPARC centre.
